Wind Turbine Dedication at Mira Loma Park

April 19, 2010

Wind, solar, geothermal, biodiesel – alternative energy is catching on in Reno and all across Nevada. Hopefully, this wave of the future will be part of the economic realignment Nevada desperately needs and generate some sustainable prosperity in our depressed region.

On Earth Day, April 22, you are invited to join in the dedication of a new 5 kilowatt wind turbine at Mira Loma Park in southeast Reno. The turbine will produce 10 percent of the total park load by powering the picnic area and lighting. It will be the first wind system in a Nevada public park and make Mira Loma Nevada’s most energy productive public park.

The Mira Loma Park ceremony will be at 1 p.m., 3000 S. McCarran Blvd. in Reno. Scheduled to participate in the dedication are Reno City Councilwoman Jessica Sferrazza, NV Energy representatives, and APS Energy representatives.
