Reno Bighorns Basketball Camp in Sparks

June 13, 2010

The City of Sparks Parks and Recreation Department is offering a four-hour camp for youths 14 and younger that combines a Reno Bighorns basketball camp with the NBA Fit/WNBA Fit Challenge.

The camp will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 29, at the Alf Sorensen Community Center, 1400 Baring Blvd. The first two hours will be the NBA Fit/WNBA Fit Challenge, which encourages participants to maintain healthy, active lifestyles. The competition will offer kids the chance to demonstrate their physical fitness through a fitness course that includes line sprints, jump rope, speed revolutions, wall passes, and defensive shuffles. During the remaining two hours, participants will separate into two groups depending on ability and will work on basic/advanced basketball skills.

Camp fee is $30, or $25 for Sparks residents. Financial assistance is available for children who cannot otherwise afford to take part in the program. For more information, call (775) 353-2376 or visit the Sparks Parks & Recreation Department.
