New Farming Exhibit at Bartley Ranch Park

Get a good look at how farming and farm life in the Great Basin have changed over the years and enjoy a day on the ranch by coming to the opening day celebration for Bartley Ranch Regional Park’s Evolution of Farming in the Great Basin exhibit, from 9:30 a.m. to noon on Saturday, June 26, 2010. Opening day activities will include an artists’ reception, guided tours of the Ranch Heritage Preserve Area and the historic Huffaker Schoolhouse.

Evolution of Farming is primarily a photographic exhibit tracing the evolution of farming and ranching in the Great Basin. There will be photographs from local photographers that reflect life on the farm during the last 100 years. The exhibit also includes displays of ranching artifacts.

Kids will enjoy the branding stamp table, coloring station, and western artifacts scavenger hunt. Guided tours of Bartley Ranch Regional Park’s historic buildings and grounds will also be offered during the course of the exhibit.

The exhibit will be on display from June 26 through July 31 in the park’s Western Heritage Interpretive Center. Exhibit hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily and admission is free. For more information, call (775) 828-6612. Bartley Ranch Regional Park is at 6000 Bartley Ranch Road in Reno.
