Celebrate the 4th of July

July 2, 2010

There is lots of family fun to be had during Reno’s 4th of July holiday weekend. The big fireworks show is the Star Spangled Sparks extravaganza in Victorian Square, preceded by a day of family fun at Sparks Marina Park. Fireworks in Reno will be at the downtown baseball stadium after the Reno Aces game vs. the Sacramento River Cats. It should be a blast if you are lucky enough to have tickets, but it will be visible from anywhere around Aces Ballpark.

Up at South Lake Tahoe, Lights on the Lake will be particularly spectacular. The fireworks are fired off from a barge out on the lake, with good vantage points all around the shoreline. For a unique perspective, you can book passage on one of Lake Tahoe’s two excursion paddlewheelers and enjoy the show from out on the water.

A reminder – firing off your own fireworks is illegal in Washoe County and just about every place else in the surrounding region. Please, don’t even think about it.
