Crisis Call Center Seeking Volunteers

September 12, 2010

Crisis Call Center is seeking volunteers in the Reno, Sparks community. Crisis Call Center provides 24-hour emergency telephone crisis intervention, support, information, and referral services throughout the state of Nevada. This service is provided free of charge for anyone in crisis, regardless of the nature of his or her problem. In addition to the 24-hour crisis lines, the Center also operates the Sexual Assault Support Services program, providing face-to-face crisis intervention and advocacy services for victims of sexual assault in Washoe County and neighboring rural communities.

Crisis Call Center is now accepting applications for the Crisis Lines and Sexual Assault Support Service (SASS) training sessions starting on September 15, 2010. Applications are available on the centers website at or by calling the business line at (775) 784-8085.

Trainings are held three times a year with 56 hours of class time and additional hours for hands on experience. Due to the nature of our work and the diverse issues we cover, mandatory attendance to all dates is required. Volunteers must be 18 or older and be able to commit to a minimum one year term of service to the program for which they are trained. Each program may have additional specific requirements. Please ask for details.
