9th Annual Oktoberfest at The Village at Squaw Valley USA

September 26, 2010

Squaw Valley USA is hosting an Oktoberfest celebration complete with a Bratwurst Toss, authentic German beer and plenty of entertainment. The 9th Annual Squaw Valley Oktoberfest will transform The Village at Squaw Valley USA into a miniature Bavaria on Saturday, October 2 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Modeled after the original Oktoberfest, a 16-day annual festival held in Munich, Germany, Squaw Valley’s event is a fun day for the whole family. Guests gather for traditional German entertainment including performances by Joe Smiell and his 20-piece Bavarian band on the main stage. Austrian dance troupes Almenrauch Schuhplattler and Alpentanzer Schuhplattler will also entertain Oktoberfest visitors. There will be games with prizes and the Biergarten with a wide selection of German brews. The first glass of beer is $10, which includes a 1/2-liter festival glass and one beer. Additional beer tickets will be available for $5. Restaurants around the Village will be serving up a variety of German food.

The Village at Squaw Valley’s Oktoberfest celebration and entertainment are free. Proceeds from beer sales benefit the Tahoe Truckee Lacrosse Foundation. Bring a valid ID to purchase beer. For more information, visit The Village at Squaw Valley Oktoberfest or call (530) 584-6266.
