Adopters Desperately Needed at Nevada Humane Society

October 30, 2010

Nevada Humane Society has recently experienced a substantial influx in the number of animals coming into its shelter on Longley Lane. Several factors are contributing to this situation and Nevada Humane Society is asking for help from the community in finding homes for the hundreds of pets currently at the shelter.

“With the wet weather last weekend, pet adoptions were down while the number of animals coming in has increased,” said Bonney Brown, Executive Director for Nevada Humane Society. “Our shelter is filling up and while we are no-kill, Animal Services is not able to hold animals for prolonged periods and if we are unable to take them in, dogs and cats will lose their lives. This community has a huge heart and has helped in the past, so we are asking everyone to consider, if they can, saving the life of just one more dog or cat by adopting now.”

Nevada Humane Society is located at 2825 Longley Lane in Reno and is open Sunday through Friday from 11:00 am until 6:30 pm and on Saturday from 10:00 am until 6:30 pm. For more information on adopting a pet, please call 775-856-2000, ext. 302 or to foster animals, call 775-856-2000, ext. 321.

Come to the Nevada Humane Society from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Halloween for Safe Trick-or-Treating with the animals. There will also be special adoption rates available.
