Volunteers & Employees needed for Rink on the River

The Reno Parks, Recreation & Community Services Department is looking for volunteer groups to assist with assembly of the Rink on the River, Reno’s ice skating rink in downtown Reno. Volunteers are needed November 8, 9, 10, 12, 15, and 19 between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. for a variety of tasks:

  • Putting up the rink dasher boards (walls).
  • Setting up racks that hold rental skates.
  • Cleaning & setting up rubber mats.
  • Unloading & cleaning ice blankets.
  • Setting up barricade fencing.
  • Unloading equipment trailers.
  • Hanging lighting.
  • Miscellaneous cleaning.

Staff are coordinating volunteer efforts so please call (775) 333-7741 to arrange a volunteer shift. Unexpected volunteers may not be able to be utilized if tasks or equipment are not available. Volunteers will be required to sign a liability waiver form, should wear weather-appropriate clothing that can get dirty, and should bring work gloves.

The Parks, Recreation & Community Services Department is also hiring seasonal employees for operating the Rink this winter. Applications for skate guard, skating instructor, cashier, facility attendant and supervisor positions are now being accepted and screened. Minimum age is 16 and the ability to skate is required for most positions. All Rink positions must be available to work evenings, weekends and holidays. Applications can be downloaded from website or picked up at a Reno recreation center.
