Get Your Green On – St. Patrick’s Day in Reno

March 16, 2011

Reno lives up to its reputation as a party town on St. Patrick’s Day. In addition to St. Patrick’s Day itself, there are plenty of things going on both before and after March 17. You might head down to Wells Avenue for the annual Rapscallion St. Patrick’s Day Party, complete with traditional Irish food. Along Wells and elsewhere in town, Reno has a big selection of Irish pubs where you can get down with traditional celebrating and downing of the spirits. For a free family thing to do, consider one of the performances of the Reno Irish Dance Company at various branches of the Washoe County Library.

Just say No to DUI on St. Patrick’s Day and ride the bus if your celebrating involves enjoying adult beverages. RTC RIDE, RTC RAPID, and RTC CONNECT will be offering free rides from 6 p.m. to midnight on routes throughout the Truckee Meadows. Sierra SPIRIT, the free downtown Reno bus system, will be extending hours of operation to midnight.
