All Dressed Up, Nowhere to Go Adoption Promotion at Nevada Humane Society

March 24, 2011

Black dogs and cats wait in the shelter for loving homes longer than pets of other colors. Experts debate the reasons; perhaps people pass them by because they do not stand out visually. Whatever the reason, they tend to be overlooked but owners of black pets report enjoying their special intelligence, elegant beauty, and unique personalities.

The All Dressed Up, Nowhere to Go Adoption Promotion at the Nevada Humane Society was designed to help draw attention to the many wonderful black and black/white dogs and cats awaiting loving homes. Tuxedo (black and white) and all black pets can be adopted for specially reduced fees: $15 for adult cats and $25 for adult dogs. Adult cats of other colors can be adopted for $25 and dogs for $40. These fees exclude kittens and puppies under 4 months of age and specially priced dogs. All dogs and cats are spayed and neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped before being adopted. These services would normally cost over $200.

Visit Nevada Humane Society at 2825 Longley Lane in Reno from Wednesday, March 23 through Tuesday, March 29, to take advantage of the reduced fees and give these deserving animals a home and family of their own. They truly are all dressed up and they deserve a place to go – a loving new home. The Nevada Humane Society shelter is open for adoptions seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., and open on Saturdays at 10 a.m.. For more information, call (775) 856-2000.

that is such a wonderful idea! as someone who frequently finds herself in petshop and humane societies (much to the dislike of my husband who cries “WE HAVE ENOUGH PETS!”), i can atest to the fact that black cats and dogs are always the last to do. i have two black lab/rott puppies who are just wonderful, beautiful creatures and i can’t imagine my life without them. cheers to such a great idea!
