Walk for Animals with the Nevada Humane Society

May 14, 2011

Nevada Humane Society is asking animal lovers to join in helping raise $100,000 to provide care for homeless dogs and cats in our community by participating in the Walk for Animals on June 4 at Sparks Marina. The Walk event includes a two-mile fun walk, music, K9 demonstrations, contests, face painting, pet services, refreshments and more. Four-legged walkers on leashes are welcome. The Walk for Animals will be held rain or shine. Registration on event day runs from 8 a.m. to 12 noon. The Walk and other festivities begin at 9 a.m. Parking is free. Sparks Marina is at 300 Howard Drive.

The goal of the Walk is to raise $100,000 for the animals. Walkers are asked to seek pledges, and prizes are offered for those raising $30 or more, including Walk for Animals T-shirts featuring art by Pickles artist Brian Crane, sports bottles, supersize tote bags and mini digital cameras. The top fundraisers will even be given access to a VIP tent during the event. Individuals who want to help raise funds but can’t take part in the walk can still gather donations that will go directly to homeless pets at Nevada Humane Society.

Registration instructions and additional event details are available on Nevada Humane Society’s website. You can register online as an individual or team walker. Once you have registered, you can create your own personalized page and then get the word out to family, friends, co-workers, neighbors etc. about your fundraising efforts to help the homeless animals in our community.

You can also use the printed Walk for Animals brochure and pledge form. Brochures are found throughout Reno/Sparks area businesses and at our shelter (2825 Longley Lane, Reno, NV 89502). Brochures are also available by downloading, calling NHS at (775) 856-2000 x324, or emailing kchandler@nevadahumanesociety.org.
