Memorial Day Pet Adoptions at the Nevada Humane Society

May 21, 2011

To honor the sacrifice made by those who lost their lives in defense of our country and thank our brave veterans and active duty military who have protected it, Nevada Humane Society is offering an adoption special from Wednesday, May 18 through Monday, May 30. Veterans and immediate family of active duty military personnel can adopt adult pets (4 months and older, excluding specially priced dogs) for free. Nevada Humane Society is also waiving adoption fees for all city, county, and state employees. All others can adopt adult cats for $10 and adult dogs for $50. All dogs and cats are spayed and neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped before being adopted. These services would normally cost over $200.

“Whether you are looking for a walking buddy to help motivate you, someone to curl up and watch TV with you, or an additional playmate for your family, we have the perfect pet for you,” said Brittany Farrell, Adoption Manager for Nevada Humane Society. “Trained adoption counselors are able to assist you in finding this perfect match.”

Nevada Humane Society’s shelter, at 2825 Longley Lane in Reno, is open for adoptions seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., except Saturdays when they open at 10 a.m. The shelter will be open for pet adoptions on Memorial Day, Monday, May 30, from 11 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. For more information, call 775-856-2000.
