Nevada Humane Society Duck Race & Festival at Wingfield Park

Adopt a rubber duck now for the 2011 Nevada Humane Society Duck Race and Festival on Sunday, August 28 in Wingfield Park and help homeless pets at the same time. 20,000 bright yellow rubber ducks will race to the finish line in the Truckee River, raising money and awareness for the homeless pets in our community. The fastest rubber ducks will win exciting prizes, including a Washington D.C. Adventure, Northern Sierra Getaway, Pampered Pet Package, Dine Around Reno-Tahoe, and The Great Reno Balloon Races Experience. All entries have a chance of winning a $490,000 cash prize, sponsored by Walmart.

Nevada Humane Society

The free, fun Festival, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., includes carnival games and activities, yummy refreshments, and live entertainment, culminating in the exciting Duck Race at 4 p.m. You and your family can bounce off the walls in Bouncing Around bounce house, clown around with Beeper the Clown, play carnival games for a host of ducky prizes, shop for Duck Race merchandise, or adopt a real dog or cat at the Nevada Humane Society adoption booth.

Ducks can be adopted for $5 each at Nevada Humane Society (NHS), 2825 Longley Lane, Reno and online from NHS. There are adoption tables at a variety of community events, farmers’ markets, and businesses until the day of the event. For more information, call Nevada Humane Society at 775-856-2000.
