Celebrate Nevada Day and Adopt a Homeless Pet

October 28, 2011

Celebrate Nevada Day by adopting a new best buddy from Nevada Humane Society’s temporary adoption center at Franktown Corners in Reno, on October 28 and 29. Come visit with friendly dogs, cuddly cats, and playful kittens.

Franktown Corners Shopping Center is located at 2303 Kietzke Lane, on the northwest corner of Grove Street in Reno. Adoption hours are 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday. Center businesses are supporting the event with free car washes from Franktown Car Wash, free pet collar kits from Tandy Leather, a variety of free goodies from Anibel’s Dessert House & Cafe, and 10% donation to NHS on all purchases at Lilli’s Restaurant.

You can adopt an adult dog or cat and pick your own adoption fee for pets four months and older (excluding specially priced dogs). Kittens are $30. Every dog, cat, and kitten at Nevada Humane Society is spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. These services would normally cost over $200, making this is a real bargain.

Nevada Humane Society’s shelter is at capacity with more animals than ever needing homes, so pet adoptions have a special urgency right now. By adopting a homeless pet, you are giving them the second chance they deserve, and making room for other homeless pets that remain in the shelter.

Nevada Humane Society is open for adoptions 7 days a week, from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and an hour earlier at 10 a.m. on Saturdays, at 2825 Longley Lane, Reno. For more information, call 775-856-2000.
