Weekend family fun at the May Museum and Galena Creek Visitor Center

November 18, 2011

Celebrate the season of the turkey by bringing the family to the free Meet the Turkeys open house at Rancho San Rafael Regional Park, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 19. Activities will include family crafts and a story corner inside the Wilbur D. May Museum, a scavenger hunt in the May Arboretum and, of course, the chance to meet some live turkeys and find out for yourself why Benjamin Franklin thought them worthy of being named our national bird.

The Wilbur D. May Museum and Arboretum are in Reno’s Rancho San Rafael Regional Park, 1595 N. Sierra Street.

Come to the Galena Creek Visitor Center for the Giving Thanks for Public Land event, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be crafts for kids and the opportunity to make a thank you card for the rangers. The Center is in far south Reno at 16750 Mt Rose Highway. Call (775) 674-5475 for more information.
