Have fun, help the Food Bank

The Food Bank of Northern Nevada is participating in several upcoming events, all sure to be fun ways for you to help feed the hungry in our community. There is sure to be something going on to suit every interest, so get out for a good time and support this worthy organization.

  • Winter Funk Buster at Great Basin Brewing Co. – Jan. 5, 5 p.m. The “Pray for Snow Winter Funk-Buster Party” hopes to encourage Mother Nature to change her ways and bring us some snow. Donate food to receive raffle tickets for stuff from Great Basin, Mt. Rose ski area, and Bobo’s Ski and Board Shop. This party is at the Great Basin Brewing Co. Sparks location on Victorian Square.
  • Reno Bighorns Basketball – Tickets for the Friday, January 6 game benefit the Food Bank. Bring a can of food for a free ticket to a future game.
  • Elvis to the Max – Celebrate Elvis’ birthday in downtown Reno on January 6 – 8, and the Food Bank will benefit. Thanks to the Silver Legacy, Eldorado, and Circus Circus for supporting the Food Bank.
  • NBA D-League Showcase – The NBA D-League Showcase is in Reno January 9 – 12, and January 9 is Food Bank of Northern Nevada Day. For every $8 ticket sold for Monday’s games, the Food Bank receives $3. Non-perishable food donations will also be collected.
  • Tannenbaum Apres Ski Sundays – Starting in February, the Tannenbaum Event Center on the Mt. Rose Highway will be hosting Apres Ski gatherings from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday afternoons. The afternoons will feature food and drink specials from a variety of local restaurants, entertainment, art exhibits, and a raffle to benefit the Food Bank of Northern Nevada.
  • Tips Donated at Einstein Bros. Bagels – The employees of south Reno’s Einstein Bros. Bagels will be donating 25% of their tips to feed the hungry in our area. The store is at 5050 Kietzke Lane.
