Events at Galena Creek Visitor Center

Winter is a great time to enjoy family fun at Galena Creek Visitor Center. Here are some of the things going on during the remainder of February, 2012…

Bats! – February 18 at 2 p.m. Bring your whole family for this intriguing presentation about our local bats, presented by Nevada State Museum Natural History Curator George Baumgardner.

The Great Backyard Bird Count – February 19 at 1 p.m. Join us for a hike to count the birds in our park for inclusion in the National Database. Then meet at the Visitor Center for refreshments. Bring binoculars and be ready for winter weather. Suggested donation is $5 per person. Visit the Great Backyard Bird Count website for more information about this effort.

Historical Perspectives: Lake Tahoe & the Comstock – February 25 at 1 p.m. Join us for a lively and entertaining presentation by Mark McLaughlin, an award-winning, nationally published author, professional speaker, and photographer with five books and more than 600 articles in print. His work appears regularly in California and Nevada media. He was awarded the Nevada State Press award five times.
