Mardi Paws at the Nevada Humane Society

February 20, 2012

Mardi Gras season is a time of special celebration and Nevada Humane Society is pulling out the stops to honor our four-legged friends. You can join in the celebration by adopting a pet at a special price through February 27 at Nevada Humane Society. Adult cats may be adopted for $20 and adult dogs (4 months and older, excluding specially priced dogs) may be adopted for $50. All cats and dogs are spayed and neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped before being adopted. These services would normally cost over $200.

On Saturday, February 25, share the joy of Mardi Gras with a New Orleans style “Mardi Paws” parade, featuring furry saints who hope they are celebrating the find of a special new home. The parade starts at 11 a.m. and will march through the shelter with cats and dogs decked out in costumes and led by their special King and Queen. All are welcome to join this special celebration of music and merriment.

Get in on all the Mardi Gras fun by visiting Nevada Humane Society’s Facebook page and voting for the King and Queen of Mardi Paws. Look for the “Mardi Paws King and Queen Contestants” photo album and follow the directions. These dogs and cats featured on Facebook, who definitely are all winners, will appear in Saturday’s parade.

The shelter is located at 2825 Longley Lane in Reno and is open Sunday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. For more information, call (775) 856-2000.
