Winter & spring movies and more at the Fleischmann Planetarium

Fleischmann Planetarium and Science Center at the University of Nevada, Reno, is screening several immersive theater experiences during the first part of 2012. There is a large-format feature film, Coral Reef Adventure, and full-dome digital shows, including Bad Astronomy: Myths and Misconceptions and the legendary rock ‘n’ roll masterpiece Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon. The Planetarium’s current schedule plays through May 28, 2012. Shows in the Star Theater are $7 for adults and $5 children ages 3 to 12 and seniors 60 and over. Planetarium members are free.

Visiting the Planetarium Exhibit Hall is free. The Exhibit Hall contains permanent exhibits, including large-scale rotating Earth and Moon globes, a black hole demonstrator, and the largest collection of meteorites in Nevada. The downstairs gallery of space themed artwork is also free to view.

Fleischmann Planetarium is located north of Lawlor Events Center at Virginia and 16th Streets, on UNR campus. Free parking is available in designated spaces in the West Stadium Parking Complex, level 3, just east of the Planetarium. See the online schedule for show tickets, showtimes and Planetarium hours.
