Reno Air Races set to fly

September 9, 2012

The 49th Annual Reno National Championship Air Races and Air Show will be soaring over Reno Stead Field from Wednesday, September 12, through Sunday, September 16. Following last year’s horrific crash, organizers and air races supports have worked tirelessly to ensure that the show will go on. Most importantly, those who died in the incident will be remembered with memorials and changes to make the races as safe as possible for both spectators and pilots.

The air show consists of performances by multiple aeronautical aces. There is always a headliner, which in the past has included the US Navy Blue Angels, the USAF Thunderbirds, and the Canadian Forces Snowbirds. In 2012, the Air Combat Command F-22 Demonstration Team at Langley Air Force Base will be here to wow the crowd with their amazing performance. Air show performances occur during times between races.

If you have never attended the Reno Air Races, be sure to read through this article with information about the show and races, getting to Stead Airport, parking, and other useful information about enjoying the event as a spectator.
