Social Science at The Discovery in Reno

May 28, 2013

The The Discovery (Terry Lee Wells Nevada Discovery Museum) is mainly a place for kids, but not entirely.

Adults only (21+) are invited to Social Science, an exciting, artistic, scientific, event at The Discovery on Saturday, June 1, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. During Social Science, grown-ups can explore the museum, enjoy science demos and clever art projects, groove to a live DJ, and generally get away with playing like a kid.

The event will include food selections and other goodies from Burger Me, Lazy Sundae, Gourmelt, Traffic Jam, and The Biggest Little Fashion Truck. Adult beverages will be served from Craft, Great Basin Brewing Co., Silver Peak Brewery, and Magpie Coffee Roasters.

The advance cost (tickets available online) is $20 for members and $25 non-members. Tickets will be $30 at the door. Admission includes two drinks and a commemorative cup.

The Discovery is an interactive, hands-on museum, full of exhibits designed to teach and educate. You can build stuff, learn how things work, play in a simulated Truckee River, and climb to the clouds on the Cloud Climber, an exhibit you can literally get inside of. Besides Cloud Climber, other exhibits illustrate the variety of possibilities at The Discovery – Nevada Stories, Truckee Connects, Build It!, Da Vinci’s Corner, Under the Stars, and Spark!Lab Smithsonian. There is even Little Discoveries for infants and toddlers.

The Discovery is located at 490 S. Center Street in Reno, half a block south of Liberty Street. The information phone number is (775) 786-1000.
