Fresh food and fun at Reno and Sparks farmer’s markets

May 31, 2013

Now that the warm weather is here, farmer’s markets are getting going throughout the Reno and Sparks area, and up at Lake Tahoe. These markets really say summer is here and I thoroughly enjoy the fun atmosphere and finding fresh fruits and vegetables to grace my table.

The biggest, and one of the oldest, in the area is the Sparks Hometowne Farmer’s Market, held on Thursdays through the summer at the Victorian Square Plaza in Sparks (except on July 4 and August 8 during Hot August Nights). In addition to Nevada grown produce, you’ll find lots of goodies from California that don’t grow on this side of the mountains. This market is fun for families, with free entertainment and lots of things for kids to do.
