Get in the swim at public pools in Reno and Sparks

July 31, 2013

The recreation departments in both Reno and Sparks maintain a variety of public swimming pools. There are indoor facilities open year round as well as outdoor pools open on a seasonal basis during the warm summer months.

All of our public swimming pools offer great places for family recreation. Some have water play features and kiddie pools, and all are reasonably priced and affordable. What I think is one of the best – the swimming beach at Sparks Marina Park – is free. It does tend to get crowded, though, and spots in the shade are scarce.

Besides swimming and water play, other aquatics programs and swimming lessons are available at these Reno and Sparks pools. If swimming isn’t your thing, the rec departments in both cities offer a variety of other recreational activities. Refer to the “Reno Recreation Program Brochure” and “Sparks Recreation Activity Guide” for details on programs available this summer and fall.
