Ski season is coming

November 6, 2013

Ready or not, ski season in the Reno / Tahoe region is just about here. In fact, it’s already started at Boreal, the resort at Donner summit next to I80. It opened its first run on November 1, maintaining a tradition of being the first resort to open for ski season.

Other ski resorts will be following soon, depending on artificial snowmaking, natural snowfall, and weather conditions. Here are some tentative opening dates…

  • Alpine Meadows – December 7
  • Diamond Peak – December 12
  • Heavenly – November 22
  • Homewood – December 13
  • Kirkwood – November 22
  • Mt. Rose – November 22
  • Northstar California – November 22
  • Sierra-at-Tahoe – mid-November
  • Squaw Valley – November 27
  • Sugar Bowl – Thanksgiving weekend
  • Tahoe Donner – December 13

The key word at this point is “tentative.” Be sure to check the website or call ahead before heading up to the slopes.
