February 15, 2014

There will be several fee free days during 2014 at our national parks and other public lands administered by the federal government. Note that what’s free will be the entrance fees – other activities, like camping, will still cost you.

Here are the fee free days at the national parks that charge an entrance fee. There are 133 of them.

  • January 20 – Martin Luther King Jr. Day
  • February 15-17 – Presidents Day weekend
  • April 19-20 – opening weekend of National Park Week
  • August 25 – National Park Service birthday
  • September 27 – National Public Lands Day
  • November 11 – Veterans Day

The Bureau of Land Management and other agencies within the Department of the Interior will waive recreation-related day-use fees for individual visitors to the National System of Public Lands on the following dates. Other fees, such as overnight camping, cabin rentals, and group day use, will remain in effect.
