Nevada Humane Society to Participate in 2014 ASPCA Mega Match-a-thon

October 17, 2014

Nevada Humane Society is proud to announce they are one of 33 animal rescue organizations nationwide receiving grant funding to participate in the 2014 ASPCA Mega Match-a-thon event, presented by Subaru, which will take place in October 17 to 19, 2014. The ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®) is granting over $200,000 to support large-scale adoption events held simultaneously nationwide in an effort to save more lives of shelter animals.

“Our ASPCA Mega Match-a-thon event, which we have dubbed ‘DOGtoberfest,’ is a great motivator for our staff and for the members of our community to help the many wonderful cats and dogs in our shelter find loving homes,” said Nevada Humane Society CEO Kevin Ryan. “Working together, we can save hundreds of animals and enrich the lives of new adopting families.”

DOGtoberfest will happen Friday, October 17 through Sunday, October 19, with adoptable animals at three different locations:

  • at the NHS shelter on Longley Lane from 11 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. on Friday and Sunday, and 10 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. on Saturday
  • at PetSmart on South Virginia Street from 12 noon – 5 p.m. on Friday, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Saturday, and 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. on Sunday
  • at Legends at Sparks Marina from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday

The goal of DOGtoberfest is to place 125 animals into loving homes during the three-day event. Adoption fees will be discounted for both adult dogs and cats, and all animals are spayed or neutered, vaccinated and microchipped.
