Christmas season shows in Reno and Sparks, Nevada
‘Tis the season for holiday shows and concerts. Here in Reno and Sparks, there are numerous events from which to choose as we approach Christmas Day.

Ham for the Holidays is presented by Bruka Theatre in downtown Reno. The play is a hilarious Christmas farce set in the fictional town of Hamlin, Georgia, on Christmas Eve 1939. Remaining performances start at 8 p.m. on December 17, 18, 19, and 20, 2014. There will be a Sunday matinee at 2 p.m. on December 21. Jazz for the Holidays will be presented by the Reno Jazz Orchestra on Saturday, December 20, 2014. Accompanying the 17 piece band of the RJO is award-winning jazz vocalist Madeline Eastman, international tap and ballet stars, the Reno Youth Jazz Orchestra, and other special guests who will all perform beginning at 7:30 p.m. The show will be in Nightingale Concert Hall, inside the Church Fine Arts building at the University of Nevada, Reno. 9th Annual Messiah Concerts will be performed by Tahoe Symphony Orchestra & Chorus (TOCCATA) at Grace Church in Reno on Friday, December 19, 2014, at 7 p.m. The TOCCATA production is a celebration of the holidays and includes not only favorite selections from Messiah Parts One and Three, but also seasonal carols that the audience will be welcome to join in singing. Grace Church is at 1220 Robb Drive in Reno. The final performance this season will be at St. Theresa Catholic Church in South Lake Tahoe on Sunday, December 21, at 3 p.m. For more information, call (775) 313-9697.

“The Nutcracker” ballet will be at The Nugget in Sparks from December 19 through 23, 2014. This version of “The Nutcracker” will be performed by the Reno Dance Company. You can buy tickets online or call (800) 648-1177. The Nugget is located at 1100 Nugget Avenue in Sparks.
