June events and activities around Reno and Sparks

June 1, 2015

There are plenty of events and activities during June, 2015. We bring in summer and the big events season in June, with quite a few popular activities scheduled. Things are fairly well spaced out during the month so you have the opportunity to do stuff without so many conflicting dates.

The project to replace the historic Virginia Street Bridge starts in earnest on June 1. Virginia Street will be closed from Mill Street to First Street for months while the old bridge is removed and the new one installed. You will still be able to get to everything in the vicinity, but be aware of detours and areas closed to the public during active construction.

  • Street Vibrations Spring Rally – This is a shorter version of the big Street Vibrations event in the fall. It will be June 5 and 6 in downtown Reno.
  • Muckfest: Mining, Whiskey & Cigars – Bring the family to Virginia City on June 13 and experience the past, present and future of Comstock mining. Lots of kid activities, except for the whiskey and cigars stuff.
  • Free Fishing Day – Bring the kids to Sparks Marina Park for an opportunity to catch their first fish. Free fishing poles for all kids who register. Fishing will be from 7 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on June 13. Fishing for adults and kids with disabilities will be on June 11. Sponsored by Rotary Club of Sparks.
  • Tour de Nez – Professional bicycle criterium racing and other events come to downtown Reno on June 13. This is a great spectator event with fun ways to participate.
  • Reno Rodeo – Experience the Wild West with real pro rodeo action and lots of other events and activities. Starts on June 18 and runs through June 27.

These are only a sample of things to do this month. Learn about even more from “June 2015 Events and Activities in the Reno Region.”
