Rosewood Lakes Golf Course closes until 2016

Rosewood Lakes Golf Course, Reno, Nevada
Rosewood Lakes Golf Course closed to the public on June 1, 2015, because of construction of Phase II of the Southeast Connector project. Rosewood Lakes will remain closed for the remainder of the 2015 season. The City of Reno and golf course operator The First Tee of Northern Nevada determined that the best option at this time is to close the golf course during the initial heavy construction period.

“We feel that there are safety concerns with having golfers actively cross a construction zone that is also used by heavy construction vehicles,” says Andy Bass, Director of the City of Reno’s Parks, Recreation, and Community Services department. “We also believe that the noise, dust, and movement of heavy machinery will create an unpleasant environment to play golf.”

During the closure, First Tee will complete the necessary improvements to reopen the golf course as a nine-hole public course some time next year. It is anticipated that Rosewood Lakes Golf Course will reopen in spring 2016.
