Hands ON! “Little Burners” at the Nevada Museum of Art

August 6, 2015

“Hands ON! Second Saturdays” is the monthly free family event at the Nevada Museum of Art (NMA) in Reno. On Saturday, August 8, 2015, the theme will be “Little Burners,” with activities related to the Burning Man event starting at the end of the month. Each month, Hands ON! has a different focus, frequently related to one of the current exhibits or a significant northern Nevada event.

“Tahoe: A Visual History” is an exhibit of particular regional interest, opening at the NMA on Saturday, August 22, 2015. Explore the beauty and history of iconic Lake Tahoe through the eyes of 175 painters, photographers, architects, weavers, and sculptors. This is the first major art historical survey exhibition of painting, Native baskets, photography, architecture, and contemporary art dedicated to Lake Tahoe, Donner Pass, and the surrounding Sierra Nevada region.

Even if you don’t participate in Hands ON!, admission to the NMA on this day is free for all visitors. Learn more about the current exhibits, activities, and classes by following the links from my “Enjoy the Nevada Museum of Art in Reno” article. For more information, call the NMA at (775) 329-3333.

There are lots of other activities and events during August around the Reno area. Learn about many of these from “August 2015 Events and Activities in the Reno Region.”
