Get your updated Truckee Meadows Trails Guide

September 10, 2016

The “Truckee Meadows Trails” guide has been around for several years. An updated version of this handy booklet was released in June, 2016, and is now available online through Washoe County Regional Parks and Open Space. Printed versions of this hiker’s and walker’s resource can be picked up from numerous locations around Washoe County, like at park offices and some private businesses. I got mine at the REI in Reno.

The guide provides descriptions and directions to a wide variety of hiking trails in Washoe County, including Reno, Sparks, and the northeast area of Lake Tahoe. Some newer trails have been added to this edition of the guide, like Ballardini Ranch Trail in south Reno and the Sugarloaf Trails up in Spanish Springs.

Attention dog owners – It’s the law to keep dogs on leash at all times in designated congested areas of Washoe County and in Nevada State Parks. It doesn’t matter if your dog is “friendly.” Other users of public trails do not want to be approached and/or threatened by unleashed dogs. They don’t enjoy piles of dog poop all over the place, either. Be considerate of others using our trails – leash your dogs and pick up the poop.
