Recycle your Christmas tree

December 26, 2016

After the Christmas lights are off and the tree decorations have been put away, the tree that served you well can continue to be useful through proper recycling.

Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful (KTMB), along with support from local governments and businesses, will be offering Christmas tree recycling at several locations around the Truckee Meadows and Washoe County. Trees will be accepted daily, between 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., from December 26, 2016 through January 16, 2017. They will be chipped and the mulch used by local parks, landscapers, and residents. A donation of $3 per tree is asked to help support this and other KTMB programs. NV Energy Foundation matches Christmas tree recycling donations. Get the details about recycling locations from “Christmas Tree Recycling in the Reno and Sparks Area.”

KTMB needs volunteers to help with the Christmas tree recycling project. You can sign up online and choose the location where you would like to work. For more information or to volunteer by phone, call (775) 851-5185.
