January 13, 2017

The 2017 Martin Luther King, Jr. Day holiday is Monday, January 16. Government offices, libraries, and some businesses will be closed in observance of the civil rights leader’s birthday. Around Reno and Sparks, there will be some events and activities for those wishing to observe and celebrate Dr. King’s legacy. There will also be volunteer opportunities with the concurrent Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day is one of the dates in 2017 when there is free admission to our national parks and other public lands. For more information about this, refer to “Free Days to Visit National Parks and Public Lands.”
