Spring “Food for Fines” at the Washoe County Library

March 25, 2017

From April 1 through April 30, 2017, you can bring non-perishable canned or boxed food items to the Washoe County Library in lieu of fines and help feed the hungry. Food barrels will be placed at all library locations and delivered to the Food Bank of Northern Nevada. In Incline Village, donations will be given to Project MANA.

Library patrons are asked to bring one non-perishable food item for every overdue book or other item. Food cannot be exchanged for lost or damaged books and other items. Items in high demand include canned meats and fish, peanut butter, macaroni & cheese, pasta meals, powdered milk, baby formula and baby food, complete meals in a can such as stew, chili, ravioli and hearty soups, canned fruits, juice, vegetables, dry cereal, oatmeal, rice and pasta.

While at the library, be sure to check out all of the free events and activities during the month – “Free Events and Programs at Washoe County Libraries.”
