Reno River Festival – get wet and wild

May 9, 2017

Get down to Wingfield Park for Truckee River action and the big party at the 2017 Reno River Festival. The 14th annual event will be on Saturday and Sunday, May 13 and 14, 2017. There are no tickets to buy for two days of fun both in the water and on dry land at Wingfield Park. The Reno River Festival is centered around whitewater fun, including various kayaking events and stand-up paddleboarding.

If you would like to participate but don’t do the kayak thing, there are events for you. The Reno River Roll celebrates all things bicycle with a casual 5-mile costumed slow ride. It starts at the new Virginia Street Bridge and finishes at the Reno River Festival in Wingfield Park. It is open to everyone and all types of bikes. Costumes are encouraged and prizes are involved.

The Reno Great River Relay is the newest event at the Reno River Festival. The 8-mile raft relay will send teams of four racing down the Truckee River with several scavenger style puzzles to figure out along the way.

Mother’s Day – Don’t forget Mother’s Day on Sunday, May 14. Besides the Reno River Festival, there are numerous other activities and events this weekend suitable for a day out with Mom. Among them is a favorite families can share with their Moms – “Mother’s Day Brunch and Dining in Reno and Sparks.”
