Reno’s own PGA golf tournament – the Barracuda Championship

July 27, 2017

The Barracuda Championship is the only PGA Tour golf tournament in the Reno area. The 2017 event starts on Monday, July 31, and runs through Sunday, August 6. The event brings big name professional golfers to play right here at the Montreux Golf and Country Club in south Reno. Past winners have included Kirk Triplett, Vaughn Taylor, John Cook, Will MacKenzie, John Rollins, Matt Bettencourt, and the 2016 champion Greg Chalmers. Play starts on Monday with the Reno Open, a chance for amateurs to play with the pros. The actual Barracuda Championship tournament begins on Thursday.

The Barracuda Championship is all set up for spectators. In addition to the golf, there are numerous other activities for fans around the Montreaux course. For all the details, including information about tickets, parking, and the schedule, refer to my “2017 Barracuda Championship” article.

Public parking is at nearby Galena High School, with free shuttle buses to and from the event.
