Sparks hiring for summer and fall jobs

The City of Sparks Parks and Recreation Department is now hiring for summer and fall positions, including lifeguards, preschool teachers, recreation leaders and sports facility maintenance workers.


Lifeguards are needed for summer positions at Deer Pool and Alf Sorensen Community Center. No advanced certification is required. The City of Sparks will train and certify staff at no charge. Applicants are asked to apply soon as training is scheduled for May 15 & 16.

Preschool Teachers

Preschool teachers are needed for fall programs at the Alf Sorensen Community Center and Marvin Moss Elementary School locations. Hours vary between 7:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. This program serves children three to six years old.

Recreation Leaders

Recreation Leaders are needed to work with elementary school-aged children in a summer day camp and before- and after-school program setting. Hours vary between 6:45 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. weekdays. Shifts can range from two to seven hours per day. Programs are offered at a variety of locations throughout Sparks.

Sports Facility Maintenance Workers

Sports Facility Maintenance workers are needed to perform all aspects of preparation and clean-up of sporting venues for daily play on soccer, football, softball and baseball fields, basketball courts and other facilities as assigned. Staff members also monitor activities to promote safety and compliance with established facility rules. Employees in this position work weekday, weekend and evening shifts.
