New exhibit opens at UNR’s Keck Museum

February 6, 2023

The W. M. Keck Earth Science and Mineral Engineering Museum at the University of Nevada, Reno recently opened a new exhibit at its campus location. “Where the Wind Blows Wild & Free: Understanding Climate with Science and Art” showcases Nevada’s changing climate.

The display features a variety of artistic mediums, including metal birds and a woven tapestry. “The exhibit has been a year in the making, we got funded about this time last year,” said Keck Museum curator Garrett Barmore. “The focus is to highlight research happening at the Mackay School and make collaborative exhibits.”

Don’t wait too long to visit the museum. The changing exhibit will be updated at the end of February with an exhibit featuring research by Stacia Gordon in the Department of Geological Sciences and Engineering.

The Keck Museum is housed in the Mackay School of Mines Building at the north end of The Quad. The address is 1664 N. Virginia Street. Visiting is free and it is open to the public Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on the first Saturday of the month from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
